In this brown bag quarterly conversation, Global Rights for Women will present a showing of the short film, “The Circus Saved My Life,” about Chimgee Haltarhuu, a Mongolian-American woman and her work to combat domestic violence in Mongolia. The film includes legal context on the issue of domestic violence by Global Rights for Women deputy director, Helen Rubenstein.
Chimgee and Helen will discuss the social and legal obstacles to protecting women from domestic violence in Mongolia and internationally, and the work that is being done by Global Rights for Women to promote legal and systems reform on violence against women around the world. “The Circus Saved My Life” recently had its world premier at the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival.
