CSW62: Domestic Violence Risk Assessment Development in Georgia – GRADA
March 15 @ 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm
You are invited to join Global Rights for Women in New York City next month as we host an NGO panel event at the 62nd UN Women’s Commission on the Status of Women in New York. International Training Director Melissa Scaia will be presenting with UN Women Georgia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia on creating a domestic violence risk assessment methodology for the country of Georgia’s criminal justice system. This collaboration is an initiative under the “Unite to Fight Violence Against Women” project funded by the European Union. At this event, we will offer insight as to how GRW, UN Women, and MIA, along with many other important system actors, created a tool to ensure that all responding law enforcement officers could assess both the lethality and the risk of re-abuse of a particular offender. Learn how the tool development involved input directly from many victims in the country of Georgia, as well as all government criminal justice actors and victim services NGOs. CSW has been working for decades to promote gender equality and the empowerment of women, and Global Rights for Women is honored to again be a part of this event and celebrate the accomplishments of NGOs around the world. Please join us in this celebration!
